Cory Phillips, Tori Doyle sectected to 2009 All-Regional Track and Field Team in hurdles, April Doyle and Vince Tuzze make team as throwers.

5/23

April Doyle takes silver medal in Shot Put(41-8.5) and 4th place in Discus(126-8) at PIAA State Championships.  Tori Doyle improves from 11th seed to take 5th in 100 Meter Hurdles(15.45), Vince Tuzze finishes his high school career with 6th place finish in Discus(155-9).

April Doyle sets district record in Shot Put, and takes gold in Discus the lead Lakeland Teams at District 2 Championship Meet. Vince Tuzze breaks district record in Discus to take gold medal, and Al Tuzze wins gold in Shot Put. Cory Phillips and Tori Doyle win silver in 110/100 hurdles, qualify for State Championship Meet. Regina Ryan takes silver in Pole Vault.  Sara Teeple takes bronze in Javelin and Jordan Walker also wins bronze in High Jump.

Ashton Boyarsky wins three medals at District II Championships.  Ashton took bronze in triple jump, 4x100 relay and 5th in long jump.  Girls 4x100 relay(Abby Rieder, Ashton Boyarsky, Julianna Kozuch, Sarah Larkin) win bronze medal.  One the boys side, 4x100 relay(Tyler Stracham, Dalton Larkin, Brandon Crossley, Jesse Lick) runs great race take 6th place medal. Jr. High Girls lose battle of unbeaten teams vs. Abington Heights(72-51), finish season 5-1.  4x100 relay team(Abby Rieder,Ashton Boyarsky,Julianna Kozuch, Sarah Larkin) set school record(53.3).  Dalton Larkin has three wins in loss for the boys,(84-38).

Lakeland Throwers lead Boys and Girls Teams to impressive finish at Lackawanna Track Conference Championship Meet. April Doyle 1st(shot, discus), Angelia Prebich 3rd (discus).  Vince Tuzze 1st (discus), 3rd (shot)-Al Tuzze 2nd (shot).  Regina Ryan sets school record in Pole Vault at 10 feet takes 2nd.  Cory Phillips takes 1st (110 hurdles), 3rd (300 hurdles), Tori Doyle places 3rd in both (100, 300 hurdles).

Lakeland Throwers have big day at Wilkes Barre Invitational. April Doyle takes first in shot put(42-10), second in discus(117-4) Vince Tuzze wins discus(144-10), Al Tuzze wins shot(49-1.75), Sara Teeple takes third in javelin(108-10). On the track, Tori Doyle places 2nd in 100 hurdles(15.6), Craig Noldy 2nd in 400 meter dash(53.9) and Cory Phillips takes 2nd in 300 meter hurdles(41.6).

Boys medal in three of six events including silver in (4X400) at Jordan Relays, finish 5th in team race.  Girls take silver(1200 medley) and bronze in (4x400) to finish 6th overall.

Jr. Hi Girls (5-0) continue unbeaten season with (83-40) win over Scranton Prep.  Showdown with unbeaten Abington Heights next Wednesday.  Boys lose to Prep (75-48).

Varsity Girls post nine personal best efforts in win against Scranton Prep(81-69), end season with 4-2 record.  April Doyle betters her own school record with a toss of 42' 3.75". Boys lose  (97-53), Cory Phillips moves to 6th on all-time 110 M hurdle list.

Sarah Larkin sets school record in 200 meter dash(28.09), takes 3rd in 100 meter dash and Ashton Boyarsky wins three medals(long,triple jumps, 4x100) to lead Jr. Hi girls at Crestwood Inviational.  Girls 4x100 relay wins gold.  Jacqueyleen Budzinski takes 3rd in high jump, Breann Clauss-Walton 3rd in shot put. For the boys, Dalton Larkin finishes 3rd in 200 meter dash.

Jr. High Girls continue unbeaten season with 64-59 win over powerhouse Honesdale.  Ashton Boyarsky betters her long jump record with a leap of 14'9".  Boys still improving with every meet, but come up short (74-49).

Lakeland Girls set two school records on way to suprise win vs. Honesdale (77-73).  April Doyle sets new discus record (131-10), and Regina Ryan breaks pole vault mark (9-3). Tori Doyle (2nd)100m ,(7th)300m hurdles and Sara Teeple in javelin(3rd)move into all-time performers list.  Boys drop another close one 88-62.

Sarah Larkin breaks second Girls Jr. Hi record in a week vs. Holy Cross, sets up next weeks showdown with Honesdale.  Sarah ran 13.12 seconds in the 100 meter dash, previous record holder Laurie McAllister, 13.33, 1995.

Ashton Boyarsky breaks 20 year old Jr. Hi school long jump record in meet vs. Scranton.  Ashton jumped 14'-7.5", old record Kelly Smith ('89) 14'-6".

Jr. High Girls move to 3-0 on the season, after beating North Poocno (68-54).  Boys lose a close one (70-53).

4/7

Lakeland Girls get big win vs. North Pocono (94-56),even record at 2-2.  Tori Doyle has big day with four wins (100H,300H,High Jump,4x100).  Boys drop to 1-3 with 92-58 loss.

3/31

Varsity Boys and Girls each lose a heartbreaker at Delaware Valley.  Boys (80-70), Girls (76-74).  Hannah Tuffy moves to 4th on all-time 300 hurdles list with a time of 49.3.

3/30

Jr. High Girls move to 2-0 after big win(82-39) over Delaware Valley. Ashton Boyarsky and Madeline Destalfo lead team with 3 wins each.  Boys drop second meet (79-44), but are making improvements.  Jake Bonner, 3 wins, and Tyler Kubilus 2 wins lead team.

Lakeland Girls sweep field events (Shot Put, Discus, Javelin) on the way to a surprise 2nd place team finish at Wallenpaupak Icebreaker Relays.  April Doyle and Angelia Prebich set meet shot put record. Boys score in 8 of 15 events, finish with strong 7th place team effort.

Despite terrible weather, the varsity teams turn in some good performances, but come up short against Abington Heights.  Boys(110-40), Girls(92-54). On Saturday, the varsity teams will be at Wallenpaupak Icebreaker Relays.

Lakeland Boys (104-46) and Girls (102-48) varsity teams open season with a sweep of Wallenpaupak. Sara Teeple leads team with four wins (LJ),(TJ),(JAV.)(4x400) to first meet victory in three years.

 Jr. High Girls start off season with big win over Wallenpaupak 68-54, Boys lose a tough one 78-41.  Varsity teams open up tomorrow at Wallenpaupak.
